The Opportunity
Our client, a leading national Multifamily Investment Manager and Developer, and one of the most active buyers, and owners of Affordable Housing in the United States, is seeking an SVP or VP of Affordable Housing Transactions, dependent upon experience. This role will lead a team and report directly to the Head of the group on this entrepreneurial team, known for its collaborative, fun, progressive culture, operational excellence, and high performance. With a rapidly expanding national portfolio of more than 10,000 units just in their affordable housing portfolio, this company is quickly becoming one of the dominant players in Affordable Housing.

Our client is well-capitalized and is closely aligned with the mission to provide and preserve housing for low-income families. This company is vertically integrated with a robust platform and decades of experience acquiring, owning, and operating multifamily assets in markets across the country.

Primary job responsibilities will be to manage a portfolio of affordable housing syndications or re-syndication throughout the country from site acquisition and initial applications through completion of construction.
This position requires advanced knowledge and understanding of affordable housing development and finance.

Essential Responsibilities
Oversight, review, and management of application process for local, state, and federal funding including working with time-sensitive material and meeting multiple deadlines for simultaneous projects including applications for tax credits and bonds, transfer consent applications in connection with the acquisition of Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) deals, re-syndication closing, and due diligence activities, and closeout/ 8609 documentation.
 
Requirements
A minimum of seven to ten years of experience in affordable housing financing and development including an understanding of allocation opportunities in multiple markets, project underwriting, strategic maximization of project economics, assembly of governmental agency application materials, communication and reporting, research, analysis, and interpretation of data. Experience managing internal and external teams on syndication or re-syndication projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of multifamily property proformas, tax credit underwriting, accounting reporting, and due diligence reports
  • Quantitative ability to work with the intricacies of low-income housing tax credit transactions
  • Qualitative ability to write applications and memos to partners and government agencies
  • Ability to understand complicated organizational structures and relationships between affiliated entities
  • Diligence and attention to detail regarding work product
  • Willingness to learn and be a part of building a growing business line
  • Ability to work well within a small team that functions as a part of a larger company
